Hello Beautiful: “We Party Harder Than Most Bands!”
Both a pick up line and a group of “dudes” you probably drank with last weekend, Hello Beautiful is coming out of the Caledon, Ontario scene to give you and everyone you know the clap. (Taken from their song “Do You Have the Clap” or “Does the Clap Have You”) Watching this band form, it never occurred to me that it would ever become something as big as it recently has.
The talent and passion for music was there but forming a band in Caledon was something that most kids with any musical interest did, even though most bands never made it past playing the legendary Community Complex. I was taken back last week in HMV when someone came up to me and actually gave me credit for sporting an HB shirt. At that point it dawned on me that these guys were actually making it outside of the Caledon and Brampton scene! But credit is worth giving to HB for giving the 905 music scene the drunken wake up call it desperately needs.
Banding together in the winter of 2005, Hello Beautiful started as 6, and including duel vocalists brought a fresh new sound of grindcore from North of the city. They began writing songs bringing all different influences to the band and the end result was something that most from the Caledon scene were not used to. Due to complications though; they lost their guitarist late last year. Nevertheless, despite the loss of a member the band still had the capability to put out the same raw and spastic music they are recognized for.
It has only been a bit over a year since the band formed and since then they can still be found playing smaller venues. But despite playing for smaller crowds and staying away from recording and releasing music every chance they get, Hello Beautiful has gained a name for themselves by putting on an intense and lively show! Playing in the past with local heavy weights such as I Hate Sally, Fuck the Facts, Cain and Abel, Ion Dissonance and Mcode, Hello Beautiful’s set is known for being at times the highlight of show. From the risk of being hit by every instrument on stage to an encouraged pile-up, nothing can be expected when the band takes the stage!
In the summer of 2005, the band got together with Jason O’Young of Kill Decibel to record their first EP For the Kids. This was a short CD; only containing 3 songs it kept up with the band’s reputation of having very little released material. But with the band currently in the writing process, new songs are expected out late spring of 2007. This means for now Myspace and the countless shows played are they only way you’ll be able to hear what these guys have to offer. Do what everyone seems to be doing and check these guys out today!
