The Skinny: Macula is a high energy progressive funk metal band. Formed in 2006, this quartet has since tenaciously risen through the ranks to become one of the “must see” bands of Vancouver. With a powerful and dynamic presence they easily take command of a crowd and deliver more an experience than just a performance.
The band’s first EP Coup D’état released in late January 2009 contains seven hard edged and intense tracks with a funky feel and punk-ish undertones. Ten months later came the release of Macula’s second EP Pride and Panic. Touching on subjects ranging from political to nonsensical and everything in between while maintaining their groove, Macula has come a long way in such a short time. The ten tracks off Pride and Panic were recorded with Clayton Creed at EarArt Studios and released November 27th, 2009.
Macula has big plans for Pride and Panic! The band is currently on a cross-Canada tour beginning in March, hitting every province from British Columbia to Nova Scotia with an extended residency in the Toronto area and plans for a full length album in 2011. You can be sure you will be seeing a lot more of this ambitious and industrious group. [ END ]
