Perfect Female Type Premieres Synthwave Single “Science of Love”
Perfect Female Type premieres “Science of Love,” contagious dance music with plenty of oomph, brimming with synthpop immediacy.

Perfect Female Type, the brainchild of Minneapolis musical maestro Jason Herrboldt, introduces his single, “Science of Love,” a thumping, glistening single that interweaves the essence of synthwave with the spirited dance beats of early ’90s euro-dance.
Reminiscent of synthpop superstars such as Erasure and Human League, “Science of Love” imagines the love story of a regular Joe and a mysterious celebrity.
Reflecting on the concept, Herrboldt says:
“Someone posted the phrase ‘Ariana Grindr’ on social media. It’s a cute joke, but I keep thinking about it, about what it would be like if someone on a cruising app really did somehow hook up with a celebrity trying to fool around on the DL. What if those two people fell in love, but the pressures of the pop culture life kept coming between them?”
For years, Herrboldt charted a course through the pulsating heart of genres like drum & bass, house, techno, and nu jazz. With Perfect Female Type, he’s venturing in a new direction, one that captures his musical history and pushes it into the synthwave spotlight.
Riding an Italio-disco beat topped by wavering synth textures, “Science of Love” fashions a dynamic harmonic flow, fusing the energy of East Coast freestyle and the bold groove of Minneapolis funk into a retro-laced, synth-pop gem. Soft-stroke vocals imbue the lyrics with the perfect touch of elegant sleekness.
Brimming with synthpop immediacy and burnished flair, “Science of Love” is contagious dance music with plenty of oomph.
