It’s getting hot in here… Do you feel it? Southern New England collective Junro is about to light it up with the debut of their brand new EP, Matches. Five new songs of fiery modern rock that harken back to early 2000s hard rock, along with the more uplifting melodies of the pop-punkers of that generation.

It’s been a bit of a slow burn (ok, we’ll stop now) to put this record together, thanks to, you know what stopping everyone dead in their tracks for a solid two years. The foundation of Matches can be found within the different musical backgrounds that each member of this trio comes from. You can hear the different sounds within each song, a mix of what each band member grew up on, along with the rock of today.

Regarding Matches, singer and guitarist Dave Nelson tells us:

“It’s been a rough two years for everyone. We started this record having to learn how to create together online only. We all had to deal with everything going on with our families during a brand new world event. We had a lineup change right at the end and had to start over with all our writing. And despite all that, we’re so proud of what we were able to make together. These songs really represent this new version of us and we couldn’t be happier to finally share all of them.”

Based out of Providence, Rhode Island, Junro debuted themselves to the world with their first EP, Throwing Stones, in 2017. Their greatest strength as a unit may just be the diversity of rock genres that the members not only enjoy but have experience playing in several bands. Modern and classic alternative rock, post-hardcore, and indie, it’s all here to be found. They released their second EP, From Hell, in 2019, which included many dates across New England, including a supporting slot for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

Now the time has come to push things forward, and that’s just what Junro do on Matches, sounding more polished and refined than they ever have.
