There’s a smoothness to what Sara Marie Barron does, and you can hear it in her elegant new single, “Shiver.” Today we help to unveil the song’s accompanying music video, a laid-back affair featuring friends, free-spiritedness, and maybe even a little bit of foolishness.

With this new offering, Barron has made her intentions very clear regarding what direction she wants to go with her sound. She sounds as comfortable as ever on “Shiver,” as well as the other three new tracks on her August-released Angel Numbers EP. The songs are an engaging cross-section of pop, soul, jazz, and R&B, with many odes to the innovators of those genres throughout.

Commenting on “Shiver” and how it came to be, Barron shares with us:

“I wrote this song during a very restless time. We were still in lockdown and I longed for the days of going out, rubbing shoulders with strangers and getting swept up in the romance of a long night. The sensuality is definitely overt in the song, so I wanted the video to balance that out with playfulness, and I think it definitely does that.”

Angel Numbers is a reflection from Barron on her personal relationships with herself, her partner, and her dreams in life. That reflectiveness was a product of the time in which the songs were written; while she was largely isolated, just as everyone else was in the 2020 lockdowns. It’s all a natural progression since the release of her 2020 record Existential Glam and its predecessor, 2018’s Sad, But True. That last record is where her artistic goals really began to take shape, aspiring to bridge together different eras of music, like 60s soul, the spectacle of late 90s pop, and the down-to-earthiness of modern R&B and neo-soul acts. Barron has carried that forward on this record while also experimenting with her own brand of electronic production.

The good vibes are a plenty when it comes to Sara Marie Barron, and she’s hoping some of that grace and elegance inspires you to feel the love and tell your own stories.
