Watch CASTLE BLACK’s New Music Video and Find Yourself with “A Cigarette, Saved” [Exclusive Premiere]
Brooklyn, New York post-punk/alternative rock group Castle Black, are helping to jump-start your week with the debut of their brand new music video for the single “A Cigarette, Saved.”

We’re no strangers to Brooklyn, New York-based post-punk/alternative rock group Castle Black, having featured them several times before, so, when we heard about their upcoming music video for their single “A Cigarette, Saved,” we jumped at the opportunity to help out. Today, a couple days after their video release show in Brooklyn on Saturday, we’re delighted to officially debut the band’s new clip for “A Cigarette, Saved.”
The music video was both directed and filmed in Los Angeles by Craig Hubbard with scenes featuring the band actually filmed in New York by Mark Rubbo / Hi from the Future. Peep the video above and, should you feel the urge, check the song and other Castle Black music via Bandcamp and/or Spotify. In other excellent news, the band have confirmed that they will be releasing the first part of their latest EP on July 12th, 2019. Titled Dead in a Dream, get stoked for more rocking jams.
Check out the band’s video for “Broken Bright Star,” released last year.
Commenting on the new video, frontwoman and band leader, Leigh Celent, said: “The song ‘A Cigarette, Saved’ was once described by a bandmate as one of the saddest songs in our collection. Not wanting to get too close to this sadness, distance from the video making process felt necessary to me. The video for ‘A Cigarette, Saved’ is our fourth official video and the first time working with a director not physically located in NYC. The video’s storyline was the vision of Los Angeles director Craig Hubbard, who filmed the water scenes at his local beach, where he frequently goes surfing. My shots were filmed in New York by Mark Rubbo at Hi From the Future, and Craig crafted the final product from those two separate shoots. The storyline is purposefully nebulous, which matches the permeating use of both water and smoke in each of the major scenes of the video.”
