HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES Have Everyone Seeing Stars at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles [Photos & Show Review]
Hollywood Vampires, the rock supergroup featuring Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Johnny Depp, brought a star-studded affair to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 11th.
Hollywood Vampires, the rock supergroup featuring Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Johnny Depp, has stepped back into the light again, playing a few U.S. dates in support of their second album, Rise. Joined by touring band members Tommy Henriksen (guitars, backing vocals), Chris Wyse (bass, backing vocals), Glen Sobel (drums), and Buck Johnson (keyboards, backing vocals), the band performed a 90-minute set at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 11th that included several cover songs from legends such as AC/DC, The Who, David Bowie, and a few classics from the Alice Cooper band catalog.
Photos of deceased rock legends flashed on the overhead screen, many of whom were part of the original drinking club (The Hollywood Vampires), that Cooper started at the infamous Rainbow on the Sunset Strip in the 1970s. Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, David Bowie, Lemmy Kilmister and other idols known for their penchant for excess were included in the iconic deceased rockstar photo gallery. Depp sang a moving version of the Bowie classic “Heroes,” taking center stage again later for the Jim Carroll Band hit “People Who Died.”

Since this was L.A., a few notables joined the band onstage, or as Cooper told the audience, “Not all of the vampires died. They’re from a much older breed.” A conservatively-dressed, not-so-vampiric-looking, Marilyn Manson emerged onstage to share the mic with Cooper in the latter part of “I’m Eighteen,” and to a roar of approval from the audience, Steven Tyler joined the band for a rowdy rendition of “Train Kept a Rollin.” Overall, this was one of the most fun, star-studded performances you could ever hope to see as a concert-goer and just a fan of music.
Remaining Tour Dates:
05/16 – Sandia Resort Albuquerque, NM
05/17 – Talking Stick Resort Scottsdale, AZ
05/18 – Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Indio, CA
