Chicago, Illinois-based nonet, yes, there are nine freaking musicians in this band not unlike Slipknot, The King of Mars are a rock group that also combine jazz, funk and soul into their beefed-up sound resulting in an amalgamation which they so eloquently note is a “sonic baby between Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers, with a horn section.” Originally a quartet, time and circumstance led the group to expand and include synths, auxiliary percussion, and the aforementioned horn-iness.

Today, supporting the band’s 2018 release, the Bleach and Aspirin EP, which dropped on October 26th, we’ve teamed up with the crew to offer a free high-quality MP3 download of their single “For a Ride”. So, go on, grab the tune, head below for more details, and check out the full album on our fave streaming service or buy it on iTunes.

Speaking of the song in question, the dudes and dudettes noted: “‘For a Ride’ is a raucous ode to dysfunctional relationships. The song has no trouble earning your attention with the opening horn line ringing in your ears to the silky talk-box synth solo leading to the last chorus. This lyrics in this single inspired the title of TKOM’s new EP, ‘Bleach and Aspirin’ and introduces the album themes of failed relationships, paranoia, and self-doubt.“
