Halfloves – “Wrong Songs” [Song Review]
Iowa City-based indie rockers Halfloves’ new single “Wrong Songs” starts off sexy and a little eerie. If the rest of their next album is this solid, I can’t wait to hear it.
Iowa City-based indie rockers Halfloves’ new single “Wrong Songs” starts off sexy and a little eerie. It conjures up images of a relationship going in the wrong direction, with both parties unable to stop it. “Headlights on the highway,” the lead singer croons, but it’s hard not to picture them going off the road entirely.
There’s a hint of a transition around the 45-second mark that leaves you wanting more, like taking a shallow breath before the rest of the song pounds relentlessly on. Although the repetition of the chorus gets to be a bit much near the end, it’s a solid track that fades out nicely. If the rest of their next album is this good, I can’t wait to hear it.
