The Wild! – “Wild At Heart” [Album Review]

What do you get when you take the Delta Blues and lock it in a van in the backwoods for 10 years with nothing but bourbon, cheap cigarettes, and Motley Crüe albums cranked to 11? The Wild!’s latest LP, Wild At Heart.

What do you get when you take the Delta Blues and lock it in a van in the backwoods for 10 years with nothing but bourbon, cheap cigarettes, and Motley Crüe albums cranked to 11? The Wild!’s latest LP, Wild At Heart.

In Wild At Heart the Canadian-based foursome presents us with ten tracks of unfiltered, loud, reckless rock ‘n’ roll – boasting those breakaway guitar solos, pounding drums, and howling low tenor vocals you’d expect from any good rock album.

Reminiscent of bands like AC/DC, Van Halen, and Guns N’ Roses, The Wild! gives us everything we love about rock ‘n’ roll, with a punk rock attitude and a Delta Blues soul. The album starts off strong with the punchy tunes “Ready To Roll” and “Livin’ Free” – both impassioned salutes to those who remember what the renegade rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle is all about. The album starts to settle into a bit of a headbanging cruise control from there, but surprises us with the emotional and hard-hitting track “Another Bottle.”

Wild At Heart is a solid release that proves to all classic rock fans that The Wild! is ready to show us what they’ve got, and are definitely a band to keep an eye on.
