Book Review
“Best Food Writing 2016” – Edited by Holly Hughes [Book Review]
Overall, the Best Food Writing 2016, is a fantastic read. Whether you are a foodie like me or a casual reader I think you will definitely find something to please your pallet.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, lover of all things food-related, and book nerd, I was eager to dig into Best Food Writing 2016. With a plethora of short stories all revolving around food, I found this book to be a terrific distraction from my everyday routine and a great way to pass time between meals and snacks. To be honest, the latter of which was sometimes a difficult thing to do as some of these stories, written by not only fellow foodies but well-known columnists, restaurant owners, and well-known authors, are so good you can literally taste what you are reading about.
There is definitely something in here for everyone. Between the covers of this book, you will find tastefully crafted tales that will make your mouth water and transport you around the globe where something we all have in common, food, brings us all together. For example, “The Meaning of Mangoes,” carries the reader seamlessly between Vancouver and Shanghai while “Penn Station’s Underground Raw Bar,” beckons the reader to the tunnels of Manhattan’s busiest transportation hub to sample the exotic sushi and sashimi being served up in a very unlikely place.
Overall, the Best Food Writing 2016, is a fantastic read. Whether you are a foodie like me or a casual reader I think you will definitely find something to please your pallet.
