Spiritbox – “The Void” [Song Review]
Spiritbox have unveiled their newest single, “The Void” (Pale Chord Records, Rise Records), wherein they seamlessly mix electronic elements into the overall soundscape, creating an exciting and dynamic arrangement.
Spiritbox have recently released their latest single, “The Void.” The Victoria, Canada natives have debuted the song live on a number of stops on their current “Eternal Blue Tour” to an enthusiastic reception. Now the track has finally been released officially, along with a companion visualizer video.
Initially opening with an electronic beat, “The Void” soon erupts into a heavy and compelling guitar riff. Along with pounding drums, the track’s instrumentation provides a steady foundation for singer Courtney LaPlante’s voice to float above. Spiritbox manages to mix electronic elements into the overall soundscape seamlessly, creating an exciting and dynamic arrangement.
LaPlante’s delightfully melodic vocal phrases are married with abstract lyrics, “Where do my fears all go when they die? / To a placе untethering a thousand lives bеtween the stone / It’s the way that you guide me to the edge / Of a hole that was made for me I hear the call of the void and surrender up / A piece of my history.”
When discussing the writing process, LaPlante states: “‘The Void’ is a song that came about very quickly. I didn’t have to fight with anything to write it, and when that happens, I don’t argue with it.”
Earlier this month, Spiritbox eluded that more new music may be in the works but have not officially confirmed any further details. The band is currently embarking on their first-ever headlining North American tour.
The Void is released via Rise Records and Pale Chord Records.
