Given the success of the comedy film Horrible Bosses, with its all-star cast of Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx, it’s no wonder that New Line Cinema with Warner Bros Pictures as distributors, chose to revise the memorable characters within Horrible Bosses 2.

The film, released in theatres in November of 2014, debuted to mixed reviews but was ultimately a success.  It’s release on DVD and Blu-Ray – tomorrow (February 24th) will undoubtedly receive even more interest given fans of director Sean Anders and his success with films such Hot Tub Time Machine and Dumb and Dumber To, and a similar flick called We’re the Millers, which also employed Jennifer Aniston in the leading female role.

The general premise of Horrible Bosses 2 once again revolves around Nick Hendricks (Bateman), Dale Arbus (Day), and Kurt Buckman (Sudeikis), who decide to go into business for themselves, thus avoiding the potential of encountering another horrible boss.  Their business brain storm is to develop a shower head inspired by a car wash, and call it “Shower Buddy”.  Unfortunately, they have trouble finding investors and ultimately hook up with someone who takes them for a ride and leaves them holding a $500,000 debt with their outstanding loan.

Bateman, always comfortable in his own skin, plays the role of almost-straight man to that of Sudeikis and Day.  And once again Aniston sheds the persona of the girl next door, a role she clearly grew tired of playing, in favour of embracing the sex crazed Dr. Julia Harris, a dentist that would happily forego drilling teeth if it meant getting drilled, particularly by Hendricks, Arbus and Buckman.  Unfortunately, these scenes play out more as uncomfortable than funny.

The DVD version of the release features only one extra – a special feature called Endless Laughter Guaranteed.  The Blu-Ray, however, is chalked full of additional features in the form of an Extended Cut, Employee Testimonials, An Infomercial for the Shower Buddy, One Liners You Didn’t See, and a High Speed Crash Course.  February 24th will also see Horrible Bosses 2 available for streaming and download, from select retailers including iTunes, Xbox, Cineplex and CinemaNow.

While some viewers have said that a sequel to Horrible Bosses was unnecessary as well as unnecessarily offensive, fans of Part One will likely love it.
