What one piece of gear do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Mark: 5 String Music-Man Stingray Bass.

What about it makes it important to you?
Mark: The Stingray is a great bass that’s nicely designed and carefully built. It can get nearly any sound with definition and authority.

What are the major pros and cons?
Mark: Playing finger style riffs, the bass and treble EQ hit its stride with both knobs at halfway, perhaps with a slight tweak in either direction. There’s no center detent to help you find your way – and no pointer line ether. That means you can’t preset a tone before you start playing – or even visually assess where you’ve set the EQ.

How long have you had it, how do you use it, and would you ever change it?
Mark: I’ve used the Stingray bass for 10 years now, at live shows and studio sessions. No future plans on changing.

Any final thoughts on the gear?
Mark: Probably not the best bass to learn on due to the fat neck and weight, but the build quality, tone, look, and ability are second to none.
