The Skinny: Toronto based five-piece Great Bloomers will be releasing their full-length label debut LP, Distant Fires on Tuesday, September 18th on Dine Alone Records. The lead track from the album, “I Wanna Die Young” recently premiered online and now, we’re stoked to be able to offer it to you as a FREE download.

Produced by Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre, Ohbijou), Distant Fires marks an explosive return for Great Bloomers. The lead track, “I Wanna Die Young,” is a high-energy, infectious track, illuminated by frontman Lowell Sostomi’s fiery croon. The remaining ten tracks follow-suit in melody, yet suspend deeper into new terrains; some brooding with Leonard Cohen grit, others erupting into Springsteen-like anthems.

Great Bloomers is Lowell Sostomi (guitar, lead vocals), Adrian Cook (guitar, keys, vocals), Tim Moxam (guitar, trumpet, vocals), Anthony McKnight (bass) and Kyle Watt (drums). The Toronto based group relies on thick guitar and organ textures to produce a massive sound that is simultaneously vast and dense. Their live show takes this approach to dizzying depths ignited by a raucous energy that is undeniably addictive. Now signed to Toronto-based label Dine Alone Records, Great Bloomers spent the early part of 2012 touring across the country. The band released a tour exclusive 7” titled Something More in March of 2012. Also produced by Stringer, Something More saw the band’s sound evolve to a more roots driven blend of folk-rock that they continue to showcase on Distant Fires.

On the eve of the site’s 15th anniversary, a full re-launch and rebrand takes us back to our roots and opens the door to a full suite of Music, Film, TV, and Cultural content.
