Fox and Bones Bet on Themselves with Their “All on Red” Single [Premiere]
Portland indie-folk duo Fox and Bones premiere their brand new single “All on Red” from their new album ‘Long Time Honey.’

Out of the major mainstream musical genres, folk requires a specific dedication to the craft, like the one demonstrated by Fox and Bones. Today, the Portland duo revealed their new single “All on Red” from their album Long Time Honey. The song features the top attributes of a stellar folk duo, which Scott Gilmore and Sarah Vitort have established themselves as having.
Since their formation in 2016, the pair has consistently pumped out a set of poignant and uplifting folk anthems. “All on Red” is another, with its soulful lyrics and melody and pop-rock radio-friendly vibe. Gilmore and Vitort’s experience as collaborators shows, with his powerful vocals and her uplifting harmonizing. They prove you don’t have to be loud or brash to be vibrant and spirited.
Commenting on their new single, Gilmore says:
“‘All on Red’ is a song about the plight of a modern-day artist and being willing to bet it all on yourself in the pursuit of a dream. It was recorded and produced by award-winning songwriter Greg Holden in Portland, Oregon.”
Since forming Fox and Bones, Gilmore and Vitor have released three critically acclaimed albums, with Long Time Honey sure to follow in that direction. But they decided to slightly change up their songwriting process this time, seeking outside help. Enter award-winning singer-songwriter Greg Holden. Holden is a highly regarded songwriter known for his work on American Idol-winner Phillip Phillip’s hit “Home” and with New York pop duo A Great Big World. Holden came on board and lent his songwriting and production expertise to the project. He co-wrote all ten tracks on Long Time Honey, adding a pop radio flair to the songs and adding some real colour where it was needed.
Currently on the road, Fox and Bones demonstrate a real dedication to their craft. They have played over 1,000 total shows, even founding their own festival. They are the organizers of the annual Portland Folk Festival, held each year at the Crystal Ballroom. It’s a three-night celebration of folk and roots music and raises funds for local charities. Last year, they came in first in the Tucson Folk Festival songwriting contest and second place in the International Acoustic Music Awards. There’s a precise attention to mood, emotion, and detail when it comes to folk music which this duo so gracefully demonstrates from release to release.
