The Skinny: Due in large to their recent performances at various North American music festivals, Oholics have been fast-gaining the reputation of being one of the most talented, up and coming bands in rock music. Also, as one of Sweden’s latest musical groups to cross the pond, the group’s hot new tunes are garnering more and more exposure.

Influenced by band such as Oasis, the Strokes, Primal Scream and, most notably, Pink Floyd, Oholics fuse elements of punk, rock and electronic music to create their own psychedelic sound. On their debut album, Disgraceland, the band uses a combo of various percussion, the sitar, keyboards, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, to create a sound that is unique in its own way and that sounds best when played loud.

An example of mixing music of their inspirational artists and giving it their flare is the track “Lucy Leave.” It was written by Sid Barret for Pink Floyd but ended up being developed into something modern by Olholics. The energy and creativity that this song has is carried through the whole Disgraceland album.

It can’t be explained just how good or unique Oholics really are; you have to hear the band for yourself. Recently, at one of Dan Burke’s NeXt shows Canadian celebrity George Stroumboulopoulous was quoted as saying “…This band is going to be huge.” And I’d have to agree; with more exposure they just might be. Olholics will be on tour in Canada and the US all Summer. Don’t miss ‘em!  [ END ]
