Holy Grail – “Improper Burial” [EP]

The thing that I like the most about reviewing discs for PureGrainAudio is the exposure that I get to bands I would most likely not have heard of. Case in point, the new EP, Improper Burial, from the band Holy Grail. There are only two original songs included on this four song EP, but they are serious, solid metal tunes.

There is no denying the Judas Priest influences that are found on the tunes, “Fight To Kill” and “Immortal Man.” All comparisons aside though, these guys know how to kick it old school. The songs are extremely well written and well produced and I found myself immersed in them in no time.

The two other tracks on this disc are cover versions of Judas Priest’s “Exciter” and Accepts’, “Fast As A Shark.” Both of these tunes are solid metal offerings and serve as a sort of homage to the masters of the genre. On the downside, Improper Burial is only fifteen minutes long, (I found myself looking for more), and with only two original tracks, I was a bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I really dig these guys and I am hoping that there is another release of originals in the works.

At the end of the day, most metal heads should enjoy this one especially if you are a fan of the aforementioned Priest and Accept, you will not be disappointed by Improper Burial[ END ]
