Preternatural – “Cryophobia”

Low-tuned guitar riffs, a blasting rhythm section, multidimensional screaming vocals and ambient atmospheric melody. These key features would probably best describe Latvian Death Metal band Preternatural’s music. After much success thanks to 24/7 rehearsing, 3 independent demos and a lot of local gigs the group released Statical in 2007.

The Skinny: Low-tuned guitar riffs, a blasting rhythm section, multidimensional screaming vocals and ambient atmospheric melody. These key features would probably best describe Latvian Death Metal band Preternatural’s music. After much success thanks to 24/7 rehearsing, 3 independent demos and a lot of local gigs the group released Statical in 2007. This album featured new keyboardist Euge, and landed the band various gigs and festival appearances around Baltic states and Scandinavia, supporting groups like: Cradle Of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Vader, Nile, Soilwork, Atrocity and Leave’s Eyes.

Thanks to its success, the band decided to move in the same musical direction, but with more electronic experiments. This gave way to the March, 2010 release of the EP Cryophobia. As support for the release, the band shot their debut video for the self-titled track “Cryophobia”. The song is epic and as we speak, the band is planning to record and release their second album by year’s end.  [ END ]
