Ape Rape Escape: “Yes, That is the Band’s Name”
While researching for an interview I came across a band with a hilarious name, Ape Rape Escape. With a name like that, you know I’m already on the page listening. Ape Rape Escape is a “shirt-and-tie” Post-Hardcore band from Sweden. Personally, I love when bands class it up and wear ties on stage, but that’s not what makes their live performance stand out.

The Skinny: While researching for an interview I came across a band with a hilarious name, Ape Rape Escape. With a name like that, you know I’m already on the page listening. Ape Rape Escape is a “shirt-and-tie” Post-Hardcore band from Sweden. Personally, I love when bands class it up and wear ties on stage, but that’s not what makes this group’s live performance stand out. For your viewing pleasure, Ape Rape Escape’s sixth member, “Mosh-Monkey”, will be on stage dancing it up, crawling on the ground and helping you have an extra good time.
On June 26th, 2009, Ape Rape Escape unleashed their EP entitled The Misfit Monkeys which is filled to the brim with hardcore awesomeness. Seriously, their music is amazing and with four songs up on MySpace it’s easy to digest the sick tunes over and over. Only known to PureGrainAudio and the bands involved, Ape Rape Escape is planning to tour around Europe and across Canada this summer with Toronto deathcore band, Deterrence, so keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground for more info to come soon.
One reason to do so? Ape Rape Escape backs up their awesome name with an awesome stage presence. Yes, Mosh-Monkey is hilarious but he is not the only member partaking in the on-stage performance. If you watch any live video, you will see that the guys love to jump and move around on stage and provide you with an awesome live music experience. It’s got to be something in the Swedish water, because legendary act Refused had a keen sense for live performance as well. I recommend that you check them out both live and online, and enjoy.
