The Skinny: Recorded by Matt Van Leuven at the famed 8 Houses Down (Teenage Bottlerocket, Discount, Ninja Gun) in the band’s hometown of Denver, CO, and mixed and mastered by Casey Bates (Gatsby’s American Dream, Portugal. The Man), Solar Bear’s new album Captains Of Industry features six absolutely blistering tracks of angular post-hardcore. With a jagged, multi-layered sound not unlike These Arms Are Snakes or Colorado brethren Fear Before, the four-piece has received plenty of praise from local press.
AV Club Denver wrote, “For all its kicks and screams, Solar Bear is as elegantly complex as it is rowdy. The post-hardcore act embodies a lot of the genre’s early era luminaries, positioning itself as a smart, noisy rock band not afraid of the occasional chugging breakdown,” while Westword proclaimed, “Time signatures switch suddenly and unexpectedly throughout the six-song EP, creating oceans of frenzied, finger-stretching chaos before melting into beautiful and sprawling half-tempo breakdowns.” [ END ]
