Corserine – “You Can Rest Easy” (ft. Arkine) [Song Review]
Like a time machine, with “You Can Rest Easy,” Corserine transports listeners back to the heyday of satisfying electronic music.
Electronic music collective Corserine follows up their debut album, Symmetry, with the release of their new single, “You Can Rest Easy,” featuring Arkine.
Formed in 2019, Corserine is the project of three childhood friends: Caro Tyle (songwriting, production), Gylen Boardman (synthesizers), and Cam Perridge (engineer). Many of their songs feature guest vocalists and musicians.
Inspired thematically and sonically by ’80s science fiction films, the trio says, “In those films, there’s always a nightclub scene set in the not-too-distant futuristic dystopia. We’re basically making the music playing in those scenes.”
“You Can Rest Easy” unfolds on soft, shimmering tones, followed by the entry of Atlanta-based Arkine’s lustrous, clean falsetto, narrating a messy breakup that’s left him feeling “crazy.” Tight, crisp percussion gives the rhythm an engaging retro feel. A high-pitched guitar solo injects the melodic flow with intense, burning passion.
Like a time machine, with “You Can Rest Easy,” Corserine transports listeners back to the heyday of satisfying electronic music.
