Alesia Lani – “Lean Into You” [Song Review]
With vibey keyboards, mellow guitars, and glowing harmonies, “Lean Into You” provides Alesia Lani with room for her cool, laid-back voice.

Texas-based soul songstress Alesia Lani unveils the music video for “Lean Into You,” a track lifted from her latest album, Self Titled. “Lean Into You” merges elements of bossa nova and R&B, forging a romantic milieu for the vulnerability of falling in love.
A “last-minute surprise,” the song was sent to her by collaborator and producer Black Mike. Along with Christopher Spivey on keyboards and Alex Alco on guitar and percussion, Lani shaped the song into a sensuous, quixotic jewel.
Known for her crème de la crème live performances, Lani has shared the stage with legends like George Clinton, The Ohio Players, and Guns N’ Roses, as well as contemporary artists like Lizzo, Meg the Stallion, Childish Gambino, and Billie Eilish.
Lani has performed at SXSW, Toronto’s Indie Week Fest, Austin City Limits, and Jai Thep, while her music has received sync placements on VH1’s Caught in the Act: Unfaithful.
The video, set in a bohemian garden, depicts Lani wearing a black sombrero with red leather tassels, surrounded by paintings and candles, generating a warm, intimate tableau.
Rolling out on a swaying, voluptuous rhythm reminiscent of Sade, “Lean Into You” features a low-slung piano and gentle guitars, undulating with seductive motion. Lani’s vocals infuse the lyrics with sultry suggestions of Dionysian timbres, enhancing the luxurious, erotic flow of the melody.
With vibey keyboards, mellow guitars, and glowing harmonies, “Lean Into You” gives Alesia Lani room for her cool, laid-back voice.
