RYTERBAND – “Echoes” [Song Review]
“Echoes” prophesies an EP of low-slung, gorgeously produced songs that provide shimmery, expressive soundscapes that are deftly balanced.
“Echoes,” the new single from Los Angeles-based songwriter and producer RYTERBAND, is the title track from his upcoming sophomore EP.
The EP explores psychological healing, offering love as both the curative and the reward to anyone who has healed enough to allow it to enter. Yet, in the end, proposes the EP, love is transitory because our time on earth is brief.
According to RYTERBAND, “’Echoes’ is a musical travelog through my own process of psychological healing.”
RYTERBAND’s 2020 debut EP, Undefended, featuring “Brilliant Eyes,” put him on the map, collecting more than six million streams. His music has appeared in dozens of films and television shows, including Euphoria, Brooklyn 99, and The Umbrella Academy. His sound spans the gamut from minimalist acoustic ballads to dynamic house beats.
A thumping kick drum topped by a sparsely gleaming guitar opens “Echoes.” Soft, tender vocals glide gently overhead. Following a levitating bridge, the tune takes on resonant layers, infusing the melody with luminous, rippling coloration. Not quite pop, not quite dance, the song straddles the two genres, creating a beautiful electro-pop suffusion.
“Echoes” prophesies an EP of low-slung, gorgeously produced songs that provide shimmery, expressive soundscapes that are deftly balanced.
