Hailing from New York, new to the music scene but ready to make their name known is Sølace (Solace). Their debut EP, Echoes of The Lost, was released on May 3, 2024, and will surely bring the band nothing but success. Combining early 2000s emo influences alongside prog-rock instrumentals with just a sprinkle of that special something, Echoes of The Lost has been on repeat all day since it found its way into my lap.

Truth be told, fast riffs, filthy gutturals, and blast beats are the keys to my heart, but something about this sound is making it stand out amongst the sea of music. It is almost reminiscent of Coheed and Cambria and AFI, with musical tones of Tradewind and Being As An Ocean and lyrical storytelling like that of recent Enterprise Earth. Each song tugs on your emotions like poetry until you’re left grasping for the right emotion to explain your feelings.

While all four tracks are contenders for the top spot, my favorite is “The Descent.” At over 8 minutes long, I felt like it took me on a musical journey while a flood of different emotions took over my body and soul, all while leading up to a jaw-dropping breakdown. This is the type of breakdown that is sure to be a fan favorite when played live.
