Montreal indie-folk artist Kelly-Ann releases her debut single/music video, “Let You Go,” a track from her upcoming debut EP, set for release in early 2024.

“Let You Go” is a song about separating from someone you still love because the relationship is harmful, i.e., a demonstration of self-love to protect your heart.

Kelly-Ann explains, “‘Let You Go’ is a total exposure of one’s vulnerability. ‘Let You Go’ is loving yourself enough to leave everything behind, without looking back.”

Born in Montreal, early on, Kelly-Ann appeared on multiple TV shows and got to sing with Celine Dion, in addition to being part of a Christmas musical presented at Place-des-Arts. Recently, she competed in the seventh season of La Voix Quebec, making it to the quarterfinals.

“Let You Go” opens on a low-slung, tender piano topped by Kelly-Ann’s poignant voice, imbuing the lyrics with both melancholy and nostalgic regret as she reveals her aching heart. A silky, shimmering bridge precedes the rhythm’s entry, adding a slow, throbbing cadence and enhancing the mourning aspect of the music.

The video, directed by Charles-William De Melo, utilizes diffused contrasts of dark and light that regulate the emotional temperature of the visuals.
