Track-by-Track: LUNA AURA Discusses the Creation of ‘THE FICTION’ EP
The young and up-and-coming rock artist LUNA AURA talks us through each track on her riveting new EP, ‘THE FICTION.’

Driven by poise, tenacity, and self-confidence, LUNA AURA is making her mark with her new EP, THE FICTION. Her third proper EP, the recording was just released on September 14th. The EP also coincides with her hitting the road, opening up for the legend himself, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, on his U.S. solo tour this fall.
The fact that Corey Taylor wants you to join his tour is pretty good evidence of the impression you are leaving. Luna has never sounded as good as she does on The Fiction. Her vocals are powerful, and her songwriting is polished. She’s drawing on what she loves about rock, alternative rock, pop, and punk to create something true to herself.
As a songwriter, Luna Aura draws heavily on the themes of rebellion, feminism, and individuality. Growing up in Phoenix, she began writing songs when she was 14. As a child, Luna was heavily influenced by Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, Blur, and Gwen Stefani. You can see those influences within her as an artist, with her approach to her music both raw and provocative. Now based in Los Angeles, Luna is living her rock n’ roll dream, and people are taking notice.
Joining us today is Luna Aura for a track-by-track rundown of The Fiction, where we delve into the background and influence of each of the EP’s five songs.
1. “MONEY BAG”
“‘MONEY BAG’ is a song about taking back what’s rightfully yours. I felt inspired by experiences I’ve had while working in the music industry. This industry is riddled with people who try (and a lot of the time succeed) to take advantage of those they perceive to be weak or powerless. I’ve never been either of those things, and it’s never ended well for anyone who’s tried it with me.”
2. “LOST IN THE FICTION”
“This is a song about getting lost in your own ego and the lies you tell yourself. It’s about having an inflated sense of self in a world that rewards you for being delusional. I guess it’s kind of a reminder to myself that it’s important to keep people around you that keep you grounded.”
3. “CANDY COLORED DAYDREAM”“I was inspired by my first experiences with psilocybin mushrooms while living in the chaos that is the Los Angeles music scene. There’s a lot of hunger for fame and money there, and it makes people act like asshats. Mushrooms gave me a safe space in my mind to feel grateful and content with my path as is, and helped me focus on the real reasons I got into this.”
4. “BLIND”
“I wanted to show people another side of myself with ‘Blind.’ I’m not always angry, sometimes I’m just disappointed. This is a love story that’s been told time and time again, but it’s one that I’m very familiar with. It’s about the pain you feel when you love someone who doesn’t want to face the truth about themselves and their inability to love you properly.”
5. “CUT AND RUN”
“I grew up in a very strict religion that made me believe that my only purpose in life was to be a servant to others. When I eventually left to find myself in the real world, I very quickly realized I had been indoctrinated to give up on myself before I even started. This is a song about knowing the truth and not being afraid to take a different path.”
