Teen actor, singer-songwriter, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist Michael Eddy recently dropped his debut single, “small towns,” a feel-good song about pursuing new horizons.

Talking about his upbeat sound, Eddy shares, “My parents raised me to put kindness above all else. Family is very important to me, and my late grandma was a big part of who I am today. I’ve always been taught to help people and I’m an advocate and supporter of all students being treated with kindness and respect no matter their learning ability. I would hope that my music would inspire someone to smile and also put them in a good mood. And maybe dance a little.”

Eddy began performing in school productions at age 5, followed by voice lessons, recitals, and singing in choirs. He now plays guitar, drums, and bass and is the frontman for the alt-rock band Tomfoolery, which has performed at Whisky a Go Go. In addition, he’s a member of SAG and a national hip-hop dance champion.

Produced by Michael Orland, “small towns” opens on a softly gleaming acoustic guitar topped by Eddy’s rich, vibrant voice. The rhythm takes hold, giving the tune catchy flavours of pop, rock, and country blended into captivating leitmotifs. On the chorus, plush guitars and radiant vocals imbue the song with sing-along-worthy savours.

“Grab me by the hand and show me something / That I have never seen before / Come on over / Nice to meet you.”
