Hertfordshire singer-songwriter Terry Emm returns with new single “November Evenings”. The single is his second new track of 2022 following “Wish You Were Here”, which came out in April beginning a new era for the artist.

Combining a vintage live band sound with rustic Americana flavours, the track packs a punch with its jangly catchy chorus and finds the singer again working with Lukas Drinkwater (Emily Barker, Annie Howie, Jacob & Drinkwater).

Heralding a new era for the singer, the single sees Emm moving into a rawer lyrical territory than the nature-inspired chamber folk he’s been mostly known for. Have a listen to this irresistible slice of vintage pop here.

On the track, Emm says:

“November Evenings is about that feeling when autumn changes into winter and we’re left reflecting on the year. It’s about jealousy and a feeling of wanting more from life, when certain things are always just out of reach. It’s probably the second or third upbeat track I’ve ever released.”

Despite his three albums receiving praise from the likes of BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins, Gideon Coe & Tom Robinson, MOJO Magazine, Uncut Magazine, The Guardian and many more, Emm’s music has remained very much under the radar still.

However, in 2021, Emm’s song “Gently” was featured at a key moment in the narrative of award-winning Toronto-based author Jacquelyn Middleton’s Amazon #1 best-selling novel The Certainty Of Chance, proving the ability of his music to travel around the globe and perhaps hinting at a change in the tide for his career. A change that continues with the release of this wonderful new single.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
