Moglii & Noraa – “Water To The Moon” [Song Review]
Moglii & Noraa’s “Water To The Moonö conjures up suggestions of Sade, revealing exotic surfaces laced with eroticism, highlighted by the lush vocals of Noraa.
Cologne, Germany-based producer, singer-songwriter, and jazz pianist Moglii, aka Simon Ebener-Holscher, teams up with Paris-based singer Noraa on their new single/music video “Water To The Moon.”
Moglii explains, “This song feels like a new beginning to me. In the last few months, I’ve been able to deal with myself a lot and discovered a new approach to the world. the insight that everything in nature is connected and that we, as physical beings, are exposed to the tides gave me a lot. The phases of the moon are also part of this eternal and beautiful cycle. It may be a bit of my imagination, but I feel more open to this cycle now. As far as being attractive to other people, and that’s what the song is about, we can also trust this magnetic force that magically pulls us together like the moon pulls the sea. In terms of production, I wanted to give expression to this magical glitter. moonlight reflecting in the water through the synthesizer and an irresistible pulse through the groove and the baseline. Plus, the crystal clear and incredibly soulful voice of Noraa, of whom I’m a big fan.”
Moglii arrived on the scene in 2016, releasing his collaborative EP, Down Under with Novaa, followed by dropping his first solo EP, Naboo. In 2019, he released ii, followed by 2021’s Fiire. Moglii’s sound, described as “organic electronic,” merges warm beats, analog synths, and poignant vocals.
“Water To The Moon” opens with Noraa’s posh, voluptuous voice travelling atop a sensuous, low-slung rhythm, while hints of jazz, R&B, and sophisti-pop flavoured textures shape the deliciously undulating melody.
“Maybe we should cross a line / Every feeling has its time / Let’s just go with it / Or do we need another sign / Within a minute we could go with it grow with It.”
