Alexisonfire Deliver Biblical Set with Boston Manor at Manchester Academy [Photos]
Canadian hardcore band Alexisonfire delivered a frenzied set and our photographer Carla was on hand to capture the madness.
Canadian hardcore band Alexisonfire were one of the highlights of Slam Dunk Festival this year so it comes as no surprise that their return to the UK for a full tour is met with the same rabid excitement.
Main support for the night comes from those ever-impressive Blackpool chaps Boston Manor and, while there is no doubting who the main attraction is, there is plenty of excitement for their set. Landing the support slot in time for the release of their excellent Datura album, the band continued to show their ever-evolving sound airing three cuts from the album (“Desperate Pleasures”, “Crocus” and “Foxglove”.)
Alexisonfire is a band that needs no introduction. They’re a band whose fans don’t just come along to check out for a night out, Alexisonfire fans live, breathe, eat and sleep Alexisonfire. Unsurprisingly then, the band repay that devout loyalty with a set that borders on biblical. Chaotic from the off, the Canadian crew are here to take no prisoners as they tear through “Drunks, Lovers, Sinners and Saints” followed by “Boiled Frogs”.
A frenzied, jaw-dropping performance, on days like this there is simply no band out there that comes close to matching Wade Mcneill and Co. A crackling cocktail of melodic hardcore, punk and rock, it’s hard to know where to focus your eyes next as this full-throttle assault smashes you in the face. The main ten-song set wraps up with an epic “This Could Be Anywhere in the World” but looking around this packed-out room, every single one of them is glad they were here.
