We’d like to welcome back Castle Black. We have featured the post-punk/alternative trio many times before, and are happy to do so once again with the early premiere of their new EP, Take Her My Life.

Now you’ve probably heard of two-part releases before, but we’ll bet you’ve never heard of the second half being released before the first. Castle Black have done just that, preferring to ignore convention and release the second half back in July, which consisted of three songs, with the other two being released just now. They felt that this would be the most unique and organic presentation of Take Her My Life, which you can pre-order now, via Bandcamp, Spotify, or CD Baby.

It’s time to hear the whole thing; Listen to Castle Black’s brand new EP, Take Her My Life:

In her own words regarding Take Her My Life, singer and guitarist Leigh Celent said, “We released the second part of this EP, Dead in a Dream, back in July. This release, Take Her My Life, includes the first two songs from the Born in a Dream half. The first song on the album, ‘Happy Bday, 2moro,’ is kind of the apocalyptic, end of the world song, and we decided to start with that, to kind of create this very unreal, frenetic, backward, dramatic start … a birth of sorts. The album then twists and turns its way to the very surreal, ethereal, poetic ending…. a death of sorts… with Dead in a Dream.”

The Brooklyn-based ensemble has been extremely proficient in writing and releasing new material since their first EP Find You There dropped in 2015. There have also been numerous singles that have dropped along the way. With already such a breadth of material in their repertoire, Castle Black has been asked to play many festivals, including Lady Bug, MacRock, Mondo, Northside, FierceFemme, NJ Shore Fest, Elephant Talk and Staten Island’s PrideFest. Their songs defy the average are powerful and hard-hitting, always focused on hitting that trademark hook you’re waiting for. They draw primarily from punk, post-punk, grunge, alternative and new wave which makes it way too difficult to try to pin their down within a particular modern genre.

Released as part of Trapped Under All You Know, check out the music video for “Seeing In Blue:”

Those of you who can’t make it to the tri-state area can look forwards to some December shows in the U.S. midwest and for all you Canuckers out there, Castle Black has a Canadian tour planned for January before returning to the U.S. for March and May tours that will take them through the midwest, southern and eastern parts of America.
