Steeped in influence from the ’70s and ’80s glam rock greats, Derby hard rockers The Struts showed that, even in 2019, the glam rock scene is alive and screaming. Check out photos from their recent sold-out show in Manchester here.

The UK glam rock scene is not only alive but alive and screaming if you go off the fact that the O2 Academy 2 in Manchester was very much sold-out when Derby glam rockers The Struts brought their 70’s leather clad atttiude to town.

Supported by New-Zealand singer Kelsy Karter (she who recently caused uproar with a fake Harry Styles face tattoo), the Derbyshire rockers hit the stage with intent as they open with “Primadonna Like Me”. The rest of the set sees the band smash through their American-soaked 70’s inspired glam rock anthems with influences taken from all the glam rock greats. From Motley Crue to Iggy Pop, the likes of “Could Have Been Me” and “Kiss These” are trashy, sleazy, catchy slices of prime 70’s drenched glam rock that may be steeped in inspiration from the Stateside greats but, as they showed tonight, these Derby lads have the attitude, the look and the songs to put them right up with the rest of the pack.

The Struts teamed up with Kesha for “Body Talks”.

The Strut’s rockin’ Young & Dangerous album came out through Interscope Records/Universal Music Canada on October 26, 2018
