R.A.I.D – “The Strong Survive” [Album Review]
Out on Rottweiler Records this Friday the 13th(!), R.A.I.D’s debut record, The Strong Survive, is a fantastic mix of metallic hardcore that blends high-energy tempos, hammering drums and massive, catchy riffs.
“Detonate” kicks things off, and R.A.I.D – a hardcore punk band from India – comes barrelling out of the gate with a fantastic mix of metallic hardcore that blends high-energy tempos, hammering drums and massive, catchy riffs. This is music clearly designed to get you pumped. Whether lifting with it at the gym, or venting your frustrations alongside it, The Strong Survive is metallic hardcore at its best.
The album’s seven tracks are a tour-de-force of brute strength with hints of Hatebreed and Agnostic Front mixed with a bit of P.O.D. for good measure. Don’t get the wrong idea though, just because they tip their hats to the masters, it doesn’t make R.A.I.D a cover band, they have their own unique sound. The vocals are delivered perfectly to fit the group’s faith-based lyrics; they have something to say and they aren’t afraid to shout it for all to hear. And, as good as these songs are recorded, I can only imagine what it would sound like in a live setting. This music gets the blood flowing and I can easily envision a massive, swirling pit of sweaty bodies digging the heck out of these tunes.
Fans of hardcore should give these guys a spin; don’t let the message turn you off, this is one of the better hardcore albums I have heard in a long time. I can honestly tell you I’ve had this in regular rotation for the last week or so, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
