“Plaster Cast”

Do you know that scene in ‘On the Waterfront’?
A broken Brando down on his luck
I can relate to dreams of being someone
A body bruised blue now the tattered gloves are off

Craving that sweet, sugar rush of yesterday
Rotting my teeth on my mistakes
A burnt out cigarette in a novelty ashtray
The lipstick kiss still remains

Crossed a bridge of steel
Steps getting slow after one or twenty pills
If I find my way
Don’t let my bones go to waste

I can heal if you hold me close
Tighten your love around my fractured home
Before the golden hour sun sets
Be my plaster cast if your lion heart has no regrets

Shakespear’s Sister told me to stay
Too many nights a slave to cocaine
By buzzing neon lights, I close my eyes on Broadway
The Manhattan kiss still remains

After ten or twenty pills, the cracks start to show
Can you trace the x-ray?
If I find my way
Don’t let my bones go to waste

I can heal if you hold me close
Tighten your love around my fractured home
Before the golden hour sun sets
Be my plaster cast if you have the heart

Trace the x-ray, find the breaks
The stolen kiss still remains

I can heal if you hold me close
Tighten your love around my fractured home
Before the golden hour sun sets
Be my plaster cast if your lion heart has no regrets
