Ottawan band Deathsticks released a pair of tunes on July 5, 2017 – taken from a 4-track split with Saint John, New Brunswick’s Right Shitty – and now we’re hosting a free download of the single “Buzzkill”. Yay! Grab the tune and check the full EP on Bandcamp. Or do whatever you want. We don’t care.
Consisting of drummer/vocalist Laura Klinduch and guitarist/vocalist Matt Post, the duo have this slow-moving mix of loud genres that works pretty much as well as ice cream and a cone. They’re new, they hustle hard, they deserve your time. So fuckin’ do it!
Laura recently texted one of our writers by mistake and started saying some shit that we decoded as: “Like most of our material, this song deals with a brief moment of emotional intensity. In our lyrics and performance we’re simply working out frustrations, confusion and anger.”
Protest The Hero: “Suddenly this rumour started going around that we weren’t capable of playing our own songs!”
Europe: “We’ve always said we should stay adventurous, do things the way we want and do what feels right.”
