Boogat – ‘Neo-Reconquista’ [Album Review]
Great Latin music with an urban vibe is what this new album by Boogat has to offer. With the upcoming release of Boogat’s latest album, titled Neo-Reconquista, on May 4th, 2015, you can expect a mix of Latin’s groove, urban hip-hop and electronic sound. After listening to Boogat’s newest album, I became obsessed with its catchy and rhythmic sound.
Boogat, an MC Canadian recording artist from Montreal, is releasing 10 tracks on his new album showcasing his Latin urban and alternative music. His album features a variety of different songs with Boogat singing and rapping in Spanish to the upbeat rhythm that will most likely keep you hooked.
After giving his album a listen, I found all of his songs very festive including these personal favorites: Los Presidentes (ft. Heavy Sounds), Londres (ft. Pierre Kwenders) and En La Montana. His songs are all sung and rapped in Spanish lyrics and the overall musical beat stood out the most for me. ‘Neo-Reconquista’ definitely offers exciting and fresh Latin music with its use of electronic sound.
Boogat is an award-winning artist who is well known for his innovative and unique artistic approach as he pushes the boundaries of traditional Latin music beyond Hip-Hop and Electronica.
At the 2013 ADISQ Félix Awards Gala, Boogat won two awards for his 2013 album titled ‘El Dorado Sunset’. He was given the ‘World Music Album of the Year’ award as well as the ‘Producer of the Year’ award thus gaining recognition in the Canadian music industry.
He has also gained international recognition within the United States and Mexico with his festival circuit appearances and opening performances for Nortec Collective, Quantic, Gilles Peterson, and Chromeo.
Overall, Neo-Reconquista is definitely an album worth listing to upon its release, whether you’re just getting into Latin music or if you’re looking for Latin music with the urban and electronica sound.
