Not Tonight Josephine – “Common Gold” [EP] [Album Review]
I was turned on to these guys a few years back when they released their debut, All On The Horizon, and I have been a fan ever since. They have a unique way of blending pop-infused post-hardcore with a heavier metal sound that is both adventurous and enjoyable.
I was turned on to these guys a few years back when they released their debut, All On The Horizon, and I have been a fan ever since. They have a unique way of blending pop-infused post-hardcore with a heavier metal sound that is both adventurous and enjoyable.
With the exception of the slow burning tune “Don’t Let Go,” the songs on this new EP are a bit heavier and more aggressive than their previous work, which I totally dig. Danny Garry’s vocals are powerful and so emotionally charged that at times the passion is palpable. I know this is a genre that is full of dime-a-dozen bands that all sound similar, and while Not Tonight Josephine certainly have not reinvented the wheel, they have put together a vibrant, relevant offering that will hold its own in the scene and is tons of fun to listen to.
