Album Review
Resolution15 – “Svaha”
Svaha is the newest release from the incredibly innovative, New York-based hardcore/metal act Resolution15. I say “innovative” because this is a metal album with absolutely no guitars to be found, a curious fact, because if someone would not have told me I probably wouldn’t have even noticed. In place of guitars Resolution15 use violins, but somehow they still manage to thrash just like their contemporaries.

Svaha is a decent disc that packs a punch right from the opening track, “The Current.” The rest of the release apes this trend thrashing along and forcing you to snap your neck in unison. Each song is a technical adventure and while I think the band’s use of odd timings is clever, it sometimes was a bit too much for me. Another thing worth mentioning is the super-interesting cover of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” – I can guarantee you’ve never heard it played this way before!
At the end of the day Resolution15 is a band that you must check out if for no other reason than the fact that violins replace guitars. But honestly, Svaha is quite a good listen as well!
