Heavy Cross – “Street Wolf” [EP]

Street Wolf is an EP recently released by Hell’s Headbanger’s on vinyl only. Despite searching the internet at length, I could find literally no band info… only a Metal Archives page and a couple of album reviews. The EP’s description on the Hell’s Headbanger’s page also gives virtually no material and the only “real” info on the Metal Archives page is that one of the members is a guy named “Satanic Tyrant Werewolf”. Satanic Tyrant apparently is in a bunch of other bands that I have never heard of, such as The True Werewolf and Satanic Warmaster, among others. The band doesn’t even have Facebook or Myspace, so the band remains almost a complete mystery.

Hopefully this “mystery” factor helps the band to build up enough mystique for people to check them out because the two songs on this EP are (at least to me) fantastic. Sound-wise the band borrows heavily from the NWOBHM and late 70s/early 80s metal. Both songs are heavy, catchy and true traditional metal that diehards will love. Sure the sound quality is lacking and the not-so-English accent is very noticeable during the at-times off-key singing, but it’s damn fun! Check this out at the Hell’s Headbanger’s distro and order a copy if you have access to a turntable.
