Coins As Portraits – “The Curator’s Brush” [Free Download]
Though Brasov, Romania grindcore band Coins as Portraits have been together since late 2006, they didn’t release their first full recording until 2011. Fans will absolutely agree; however, that the Fading Halo Records and Asiluum release, Form and Structure. Storm and Fracture, was worth the wait. Chock full of fast, pounding tunes, the disc is an awesome, proper debut.
The Skinny: Though Brasov, Romania grindcore band Coins as Portraits have been together since late 2006, they didn’t release their first full recording until 2011. Fans will absolutely agree; however, that the Fading Halo Records and Asiluum release, Form and Structure. Storm and Fracture, was worth the wait. Chock full of fast, pounding tunes, the disc is an awesome, proper debut.
Taking a very forward approach to their music and songwriting, Coins as Portraits blur the lines of grindcore by experimenting with unconventional song structures and time signatures, and with a lack of harmony among musical notes. Needless to say, CAP has something unique here that should keep fans coming back for more.
