Suicide City – “Live From CBGB’s” [DVD Review]
CBGBs is synonymous with the punk movement and the New York City hardcore scene. It has long been the Mecca of the underground scene and is a venue that has achieved cult status. It is only fitting then that ever-popular New York City punk band Suicide City would be the band to play one of the final sows at the venue. This sold out show has been captured live from CBGB.

From the very first note Suicide City, take control of the stage and lay down some serious thrashing hardcore that offers tons of unforgettable hooks, gang vocals and lots of breakdowns that are guaranteed to please any fan of the genre. The energy from the stage is more than palpable and it is easy to find yourself immersed in the crowd feeling as if you are part of this historic evening; although slam dancing in ones living room could prove to be a bit prohibitive and costly.
The DVD also includes some special features that are quite interesting. As many readers already know I am a fan of the behind the scenes documentary type segments and the chapter entitled ‘Road Movies’ satisfied my curiosity. I enjoyed watching the band cut up as they prepared for sound check and unloaded their gear. It is a short but very cool peak into the world of Suicide City.
The music video chapter contains professionally shot videos for “Give Me Your Pity” and “Undone.” Both of these videos are very entertaining. If you are a fan of Suicide City or just good Punk Rock in general than this is a disc I believe you will find very appealing. Suicide City puts on one hell of a show and it is all captured on this well produced DVD.
