New Hampshire heavy music up-and-comers In Shallows are back with their first single of 2024, “World Fire,” which will be released on April 12th.

“World Fire” is the direct follow-up to their viral hit “Venom,” which exploded on TikTok after its release in the summer of last year, amassing more than half a million streams on Spotify alone. With this new single, the band balances ferocious intensity with catchy accessibility, drawing comparison to the best in the modern metalcore genre. With “Venom” receiving praise as “stellar instrumentals and powerful lyrics” from the likes of New Noise Magazine, the band aims to further solidify themselves amongst the next generation of heavy music icons with “World Fire.”

While instrumentally, the band takes a “don’t mess with a good thing” approach, lyrically, they’ve stepped their game up, matching the instrumental vigour with a reflective edge that describes the world around them.

Explaining more, the band states:

“We thought this song was necessary in light of recent events around the world. We didn’t just take our words and put them in a song, we were sick of watching the news everyday with the same droning nonsense. It got to the point that we realized the world was engulfed with negativity. ‘World Fire’ metaphorically reflects our views of humanity failing and creating our own destruction.”

With almost a year between this and their latest single, there’s one thing you can, without a doubt, say about In Shallows: there’s an intent and a purpose behind every release. This idea is perfectly encapsulated in “World Fire,” as the band internalizes the world around them to deliver a truly anthemic song for the masses. It’s been said before, and we’ll say it again: brace yourselves for the upward trajectory this talented young band is facing, as there’s plenty more on the horizon.
