the Skinny: Gravel Chewer was formed in October, 2008 by Jon “Twothumbs” Malley, Gregg “Shawz” O’Donnell, and Bruce LeGrow. Gravel Chewer immediately released an EP within a month of forming and forged on playing shows. After a few well received concerts, the band found 8 string bass virtuoso PJ Jacques and gladly accepted him into the fold. Gravel Chewer then obtained Conor Doyle, formerly of Perpetual Deceit shortly who played with band until February of 2010. Determined to continue the unique direction that the band was taking, the band decided that the guitarists Gregg and Bruce were the most suitable replacement for vocals for the band. The band incorporates many traditional and extreme metal elements with a heavy focus on melody, harmony and counterpoint in the guitars. With influences ranging from jazz to video game music, the bands ultimate goal is to bring metal in general into a new fresh direction. Gravel Chewer is currently writing for their debut full length, as well as recording a new EP. [ END ]
