The Destiny Program

The Destiny Program (formerly known as Destiny) is a metalcore band hailing from Husum, Germany. It’s been three years since the release of their last album, The Tracy Chapter. And with a new album comes a new sound, a new dawn, and a new start. The band’s attitude is very simple: play music, sing, and go wherever life takes them. I think most of us live our lives like that. Well, music lovers do anyway.

Subversive Blueprint—a “12-point program to self revolution”—opens up with “The Personal Revolution”. The lyrics are very powerful, stating one should break free from clichés, do what one wants, and tell others to fuck off. I’ve always lived my life this way, but this song made me realize where my attitude came from, and inspired me to do more with my life. I hope it does the same for others.

“The Frequency” is a different track from what metalcore fans are used to. It opens up with chords rather than power chords, and palm mutes with no distortion. After about forty seconds, the distortion is turned on, pumping out more ferocity than the rest of the album. The lyrical composition is unlike any I have ever heard before in my life. Lines such as, “Come and fall in love with this noise/Tonight we will dance together to your favorite beat,” and “The silence of this track is our tragedy/Play it again/Play it again/PLAY IT AGAIN!” are utterly unbelievable.

Subversive Blueprint has got to be one of the most original albums I’ve heard in my entire life. The disc even has elevator music tossed into it for Christ’s sake! I recommend this album to any Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban, and Neaera fan.  [ END ]
