Album Review
Tacere
Beautiful Darkness (2007)
Tacere is a operatic metal band which hails from Finland. The line-up on their debut album Beautiful Darkness consists of: Helena (vocals), Karri (vocals, guitar, bass, & keyboards), Jake (drums), and Janne (keyboard). Together all members of the band put together an effort worth noticing for the first of their albums.
The track which they use to open up the album with is titled “Deep Tears Of Tragedy.” The most noticeable feature of this song is the intro which is mainly the keyboardist working hard to earn his paycheque. Helena uses her very sexy singing voice to draw all of the men to listen to “Deep Tears Of Tragedy.”
The fifth track in the album is titled “A Voice In The Dark.” It opens up with a nice soothing acoustic guitar riff which I always love to hear. Some bands don’t know how to draw in the fans, using an acoustic guitar will certainly draw fans from all different kinds of genres. Tacere is aware of this secret and uses the nice sounds of the acoustic guitar to sooth listeners into their music.
The final song on the CD is “Into Your Dreams.” The opening vocals “the snow comes falling down” immediately caught my attention, simply due to the fact that the band hails from Finland. Perhaps they are trying to fit some of their country into their work of art. “Into Your Dreams” is without a doubt in my mind my most preferred track on their debut album. The perfect combination of two vocalists singing in harmony with a band to back them up is breath-taking.
Overall, Tacere did a fairly good job in creating an album for the fans. The music is in no way a disappointment to my ears, I see much potential in the vocals of both Karri and Helena. With only room to grow Tacere is defiantly a band to keep an eye on. Good job boys and girls. I give Beautiful Darkness a 6.8/10. [ END ]
