JOLLYMON Return After 18 Years with a Stoner Metal “Tsunami” [Exclusive Premiere]
Stoner metal trio, Jollymon, are back after a 18-years hiatus with their new album Void Walker. Get a taste of the new tunes with a video for lead single “Tsunami”.
Sometimes great things take time. Lots of time. Okay, too much time. Wait… maybe, a ridiculous amount of time that definitely warrants further scrutiny!? Well, whatever the case with stoner metal trio, Jollymon, we don’t give a rats as to why it took 18 years for the release of Void Walker, their fifth full-length, we’re just stoked it’s happening.
Due out on June 8th, Void Walker follows 2000’s self-titled fourth recording via Battle Arena Records, and the group’s subsequent implosion. Bygones thrown by the wayside, the guys are tighter than ever and it’s no more evident than with lead single “Tsunami”, a series of audio waves that’ll likely displace many a listener for its near four-minute duration.
With nine new groovy, melodic stoner songs that are certainly much more metal than the band’s past output (they were more rock-leaning), Jollymon is going to more than satisfy old fans, not to mention draw in new ones, with Void Walker’s heavy-but-still-melodic space jams.
Commenting on the new tune, the band’s Carey Rich stated the following:
“‘Tsunami’ is probably the song that best represents the Jollymon sound on the new record. It’s heavy, with a bumpin’, groove bass, has cutting, metal guitar, and crushing, precision drums, with a soft, delicious ethereal center. We decided to do a video for it, as it’s the first single off of our new album, Void Walker, that we wanted to push.
“The video is taken from four different live shots we did from our New Year’s Eve show at the Star Theater this past year. It was an amazing, energetic show, and the band and I feel the footage captures that, so when we edited it down to make it a video, with ‘Tsunami,’ it all worked out. We’re all happy the way it came about and are proud of it. If you’re into ‘Tsunami,’ you’ll definitely dig the vibe of Jollymon.“
