The Hidden Paradox of Money vs. Time
“The concept of buying back your time is one of the most powerful productivity concepts I’ve learned as a business owner.”
By no means a new concept (many do it without realising it; Ubering, eating out, laundry service, maid service, etc.) time isn’t just money, it’s the single most valuable asset we all possess.
“Buying back your time is all about convenience: By spending on things like Lyft rides, pre-cooked meals or a housekeeper, you’re actually saving money because you get back the hours that you’d normally spend doing things that don’t make you happy.” -Ramit Sethi

I work hard, very hard, but for the past decade I spent countless hours grinding away on tasks I eventually came to realise (a large thanks is owed to my wife) should have been automated, outsourced, or delegated to others. Basically, I was working hard, but not smart. As I grew more aware of these inefficiencies, I learned to better spend my time on tasks most deserving of my attention, while also relying on the capable team I had built around myself. (Why even build a team if one’s not willing to empower them, right?)
Long story short, the more I work towards my life goals, and the older I get, the more I also realise that time is invaluable, and that while I could easily spend my days burning the proverbial candle on both ends, what’s the point of it all if life isn’t also being enjoyed? Not to mention that the more efficient we are with our time, the more we can cram into a single day.
Regardless of where one resides on the wealth spectrum, one fact applies to us all, we don’t get more time. Enjoy life while you can, as much as you can, and, if wealth and maybe an empire are your aspirations, be sure to not only grow ever efficient with your time, but to also just find a comfortable balance of work and play.
