Penned by Stephanie Vozza and published to fastcompany.com on August 7, 2017, this interesting and motivational read outlines four tactics successful people commonly employ when making decisions, big or small. The article references Mike Whitaker, author of The Decision Makeover: An Intentional Approach To Living The Life You Want, who notes “[s]uccessful people . . . approach decisions differently; they have a methodical way of looking at choices.”

To that point Whitaker also notes, “Decisions are forks in the road. Life doesn’t happen to us; we are an active participant. We get out of life what we choose.” With that said, knowing that we make our own luck and must continue to work towards our goals, and not rely on chance or wait for opportunities to fall into our laps, it’s then wise to be better equipped to regularly make life decisions, regardless of how trivial or life-altering they may be, with tools for fast, efficient, and positive outcome.

“Successful people recognize that there are small, medium, and big decisions. ‘Small decisions impact you for a day, such as what you wear and what you eat,’ says Whitaker. ‘Medium decisions impact your life for a year or so, such as deciding to go back to school or take on a roommate.’ . . . Successful people don’t spend a lot of mind share on small decisions. ‘They have fun with them,’ says Whitaker. . . Bigger decisions are made once or twice a year, and successful people use their goals to navigate to the right choice.”
