The Skinny: Spiritual black metal outfit Schammasch have unveiled a stream for “INRI,” a track from the upcoming reissue of their debut album Sic Lvceat Lvx, due out May 18. Vocalist C.S.R. defined the track as being “one of the few groove songs we’ve written so far – thrashy, simple, forthright and still a great one to play live. Unlike its usual meaning as the cross inscription, the letters ‘INRI’ refer to the alchemist aphorism ‘Igne Natura Renovatur Integra,’ pointing out purification through the flame of consciousness.”
Having originally been released as a limited-edition CD, Sic Lvceat Lvx has been freshly revamped with new artwork from Valnoir (Behemoth, Watain, The Black Dahlia Murder) and remastered for worldwide release – including the album’s first-ever vinyl pressing – via Prosthetic Records.
Schammasch also recently began recording material for the highly anticipated follow-up to their epic 2014 double album Contradiction, which Metal Hammer hailed as “one of the most overwhelming albums of the year… cerebral and utterly absorbing.” The band has announced that Satyricon keyboardist Job Bos will join them behind ancient cloister walls in Switzerland to create the new material.
